Our Parish Ministries
Serving with Aloha in Kaʻū

In the Kaʻū Catholic Community, ministry is more than a task—it’s a way of life rooted in ʻohana, hospitality, and the call to serve as Christ did. Across our churches and mission communities, parishioners come together to live out their faith by caring for one another, supporting those in need, and sharing the love of Jesus with the wider community.

Whether you're drawn to liturgical ministry, outreach and service, faith formation, or music, there’s a place for your gifts in our parish ʻohana. Explore the many ways you can serve and grow as a disciple here in the unique and beautiful district of Kaʻū.

E komo mai! Come and find your place in ministry.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a layperson formally instituted to distribute Holy Communion during Mass.  After proper instruction, many parishioners serve as Eucharistic Ministers at daily and weekend Masses.

Lector

This ministry helps to facilitate the public prayer of the Church in the Liturgy of the Word.  Lectors strive to make the Liturgy of the Word as meaningful as possible for the worshipping assembly, celebrated in a way that fosters meditation.  After proper instruction, the Lectors proclaim the Word of God for our daily and weekend liturgies.

Music Ministry

Our Music Ministry strives to lead and inspire our parish family to praise God with our instruments and voices at weekend liturgies and other parish services throughout the liturgical year.

Hospitality Ministers

The Ministers of Hospitality greet you, help you find a seat, count Mass attendance, pass the collection baskets, distribute the bulletin, offer assistance, and ensure an orderly process during the Communion Procession.
